DAQ Plot Multiplies Capabilities To 16 Voltage Signals And More
August 12, 2004

VVI® today announced the release of DAQ Plot version 9.5.7, which adds DAQ hardware multiplexing on one USB connector.

"The DAQ Plot application is the quickest and easiest way to view data from sensors and laboratory equipment with voltage connectors.", said Ed Van Vliet, CEO of VVI. "Now it is also the most versatile data acquisition application. DAQ Plot has been upgraded to handle the multiplexing of 4 DAQ devices at once on one USB bus. Using wireless or wired USB hubs customers can measure and control devices in multiple settings, or just add capability to measure up to 16 electrical signals, control 80 switches and have 8 feedback loops. Being able to add devices to multiply DAQ Plot's capabilities is a valuable feature for our customers."

John adds, "Vvidget Pro, the underlying programming framework, has been redesigned to permit unlimited amount of devices. The USB DAQ device driver has been rewritten to permit the maximum amount of devices on a USB connector. This proven design is used by customers for high speed needs such as the display and control of laboratory devices to low speed needs such as distributed manufacturing process control and monitoring. By making custom systems, scientists and engineers are more productive and capable. This type of customization gives our customers the competitive edge they seek and help them develop and maintain the quality of their products and processes."

"Within minutes customers start understanding their process and manufacturing systems and seamlessly produce publication quality results directly from their data acquisition computers. Because of its intuitive features and versatility DAQ Plot can be applied to many situations to give immediate and highly interpretable output."

DAQ Plot version 9.5.7 adds these new features:

  • Increases the number of channels and curves shown from 4 to 16, with corresponding additions to the user interface.

  • Adds support for multiplexing USB devices to have a meta device with 80 digital output channels, 8 feedback output channels with 4 different control loops and 16 differential input channels (requires purchase of 4 USB DAQ devices).

  • Adds a fidelity factor so users can adjust oversampling for dense output such as for high resolution printers.

  • Adds a curve-width adjustment so curves with light colors can be seen during realtime plotting, in addition to being able to export to Vvidget Builder to adjust the curve in a post-process mode).

  • Adds several administrative report options so users can traceback critical device operations if needed.

  • Adds state archiving of main window settings, including axis type, curve active state and tick interval type and values so all states are maintained over application restarts.

  • Adds a quit alert panel to let the user know that quitting will cause all data to be lost unless it is saved.

  • Turns the DAQ device off when the user quits DAQ Plot.

  • Changes the user interface to provide better control layout.

If you have previously bought DAQ Plot then please email support@vvi.com for an updated copy. Should you have any input or additional feature requests please email support@vvi.com. We are very interested in your feedback and am working hard to satisfy your requests.
